Absolute standardized mean difference between two groups.

|mean_a - mean_b| / sqrt((sd_a^2 + sd_b^2) / 2).

Parameters:

• x (DataFrame) – Covariates.

• z (ndarray) – Group label per unit.

• groups (tuple[object, object]) – The two labels compared.

Returns:

ASMD per covariate.
